Treadmills

Are treadmills effective in making you lose weight? Well treadmills are exercise machine for running or walking while staying in one place. The word treadmill traditionally refers to a type of mill which was operated by a person or animal treading steps of a wheel to grind grain. It runs under a technology called the belt system, an electric motor connected to a circular run of material. The belt-like material moves at a certain direction which allows the runner to run on equal, opposite speed. The speed of the runner is easily determined at the rate of the belt movement. The more heavy-duty varieties are motor-driven and of course more expensive.

There are actually a lot of advantages of using treadmills. Like for example, as a cardiovascular exercise, treadmill training can improve endurance and provide a wide variety of health benefits. Not only that, treadmills also offer the benefit of reduced impact since all treadmills offer some sort of shock absorption. Exercising on a treadmill can reduce the strain to the ankles, knees and lower back that would be involved in running on a normal surface.

Even with the advent of newer fitness contraptions, the treadmills have obtained a substantial and a steady growth over the years. In fact, since they were first introduced, there hasn’t been any sales decrease. Thus, making them the most trusted fitness machine there ever was.
