1. Savor Dark Chocolate

The dark kind has more caffeine than milk chocolate plus sugar to pep you up. Four squares at most won’t make you crash.

2. Do An Espresso Shot Or Two

One espresso has the same caffeine as a cup of regular joe. Two or three in a short time produces an energy surge, but a crash will eventually follow.

3. Have An Energy Drink

One of these per day is safe for most people, but expect to fade once it wears off. And, never mix it with alcohol.

4. Rock Out

Know how rock bands always pump up the crowd? Cranking up rock or hip-hop anthems will have the same effect on your stamina.

Beans are low in fat and contain no cholesterol, and are a great source of protein (for those trying to go veg, isn’t it good to know you don’t have to settle for tofu?) Dried beans are cheaper, but for quick suppers for a small family, nothing beats the convenience of legumes from a can. Aside from removing the need for soaking (an essential step to avoid flatulence), canned beans also come cooked — dried beans require hours of cooking at times. Read the label as some come in salted liquid and may need to be rinsed with clean water before eating. Throw together a simple salad of lettuce, grilled chicken, chopped tomatoes, and drained red beans for a quick starter or snack.
